Innovation in the Age of Its Mass Reproduction – Davide Gomba

10th nov – 4PM – Regional Museum of Natural Science

What would happen if every neighbourhood in town had its own prototyping and repair lab, where ideas, objects and best practices could be shared? A place where our kids would have the chance to discover, like in a library for books, new tools for designing and producing games, and where they could experiment with and change their relationship with technology?

DIY (do it yourself), make-on-demand and self-production approaches have become increasingly popular and accessible, thanks to the internet and the widespread growth of fab labs and makerspaces around the world. Davide Gomba talks of his experience with Fablab Torino and Officine Arduino, looking at access to digital prototyping, the paradigm shift in the human-machine relationship, shared design, and the new scenarios that this sort of innovation entails.
