Smart City Manifesto – Simone Arcagni, Lorenzo Benussi, Simona Lodi, Bruce Sterling

11th nov – 4PM – Regional Museum of Natural Science

The Piemonte Share Festival this year is peering into the future to look at the city of tomorrow, exploring the Smart City. As a result of all this, we are preparing a Manifesto covering what we believe are the fundamental concepts and guidelines for creating a future we want to live in. The goal, ultimately, is to help steer government action by providing a vision of the future that can become a public policy tool. The first step involves the use of a wiki to share ideas and critical thought. The focus will then be on working those ideas into a Manifesto, to be presented in the months to come. The driving motivation behind the initiative is to respond critically to the European Union’s definition of “Smart City” and the aspects addressing the Smart City presented in the recent Italian Digital Agenda. The aim will then be to encourage greater awareness and discussion of approaches to innovation found in other European countries, the United States and Asia. The “core” working group revolves around the network of people involved in the Share Festival, though inevitably it will be expanded on the basis of issues raised and addressed.
