The possibility for people to reproduce their own physical objects represents a new frontier for business, but even more so for society and culture. A frontier that challenges the limits of production, distribution, possession, use and end-of-life, requiring us to rethink the nature of processes. To continue down this road, it is essential that we rethink forms of ownership and release for creative content. The Renaissance, the Enlightenment and the Industrial Revolution are all just some of the key moments in history when this potential was almost tangible. But it is only today, now that billions of people are linked directly to each other and physical reality can be digitalized and transmitted in real time, that that potential finds fertile ground to be explored in practice.
