>>>6:30 PM Warm-Up Share Festival – conference held by Nicolas Nova Accidents and Failure as Fertile Creative Ground for the Near Future.
Broken products, defects, errors and technological accidents will be the topic of this conference by the industrial designer and researcher Nicolas Nova, who turns his attention to technological mistakes and how the resulting failure, whether intentional or involuntary, can stimulate and facilitate creative design.

To mark its partnership with the Japan Media Art Festival, Share Festival is presenting on the big screen a glimpse of creative trends in video in contemporary Japan. The three-part screening will cover different aspects of video: entertainment, art and animation. The videos will also be viewable on a screen terminal every day from 10 AM to 11 PM on the second floor of the Regional Museum of Natural Science.

DC12V is power source used by the art duo Teatrino Elettrico to bring to life a technological micro-universe, where sounds and images are generated in a distorted transmission signal. Sound is generated using only analogue instruments, moving pictures, percussion instruments, friction and the electromagnetic fields created by everyday machines.

The artist lies still on the floor of the exhibition room, generating a digital creature she calls feather by breathing. During the performance, Sonia Cillari creates some 14,000 digital elements, bringing her feather into six different states of being, from accumulation to resistance.

An international panel brought together in collaboration with DARC – Digital Aesthetics Research Centre of the University of Aarhus to discuss how art activism is converging into business. Instead of reneging the market, many artists build “cultural Trojan horses” that unleash their critical voices from inside the system. These mistakes show just how permeable and susceptible the system is to radical innovation.

The Californian musician and theorist of ‘glitch music’, that is the creative use of quality-reducing interference in sound, looks at the state of the art in digital music. Traditional aesthetics have failed, while “post-digital” aesthetics have emerged in an environment saturated with technology. Failure and error have become a new aesthetic form, revealing just how illusory our supposed control of technology is.

Using various different media, this Slovene artist manipulates sound and video in a heterogeneous technological environment, through the creative subversion of digital data packets transferred over the Internet.

MultiReverse inverts the relationship between sound and image, as moving pictures generate sound, and not vice versa. Images are no longer a backdrop to music. Sound is no longer a “soundtrack” to images. Instead, both combine to form a true, unique audiovisual event.

Founded in 2001 by Tatiana Bazzichelli, the mailing list counts around 700 members, promoting networking, artistic interventions (artivism) and social and political activism. In 2008 the AHA members gave rise to the AHAcktitude event: an open situation which, following the structure of the Italian Hackmeetings, is directly organized and managed by the community members, who can freely propose seminars and projects to aha@lists.ecn.org. Participation is free and open to everyone.

We are living in an age of excess and indifference. Of prosthetic augmentation and extended operational systems. . An age of Organs Without Bodies. Of organs awaiting bodies. Bodies are phantoms. Flesh is circulating. The body acts with indifference. An indifference that allows the body to be suspended with hooks into its skin, that allows an inserting of a sculpture into its stomach and that allows an ear to be surgically constructed and stem-cell grown on its arm. Perhaps what we need now is not a Second Life but rather a Third Life. This Australian artist, renowned with international audiences for the unbridled use he makes of his body, is a cybernetic nomad. Stelarc presents his latest project The Ear On Arm, where the architecture of the human body is engineered with an artificial ear.
