SPECIAL PROJECTS

VersuS – Salvatore Iaconesi, Oriana Persico

VersuS is a diptych of generative infosculptures in which the threads and emotional states expressed on social networks are crystallized into geo-referenced, three-dimensional solids (generative design). Thanks to location-based technologies, natural language analysis and 3D printing (or fabbing), the intensity, density and diffusion of emotions are transformed into the mountains, valleys and plains of a hybrid, neo-real landscape.

In “love VS Turin”, an emotional map is created from expressions of love, captured on Twitter in all their intensity. Love in Turin, as conveyed by its digital citizens.

In “riot VS Rome”, digital threads posted during street unrest on 15th October become a means for reinventing life in the city and the way people express their dissent.

Conceived by Fake Press Publishing, and produced by the Piemonte Share Festival in partnership with Fab Lab Italia (Stazione Futuro, Italia 150).

inVeritas – Paolo Cirio

InVeritas is a project to democratize the power of the Italian media. Everyone should have access to the right to inform, thus breaking up the monopoly held by the Italian media, renowned for their characteristic factiousness and systematic servility, and the censorship and manipulation of information. InVeritas gives everyone the chance to speak and disseminate news directly through news-stands across Italy.  Via the website inVeritas.net, newspaper headlines can be generated in A3 format, ready to print-off in seconds.

To launch the inVeritas project, the 5th–6th November will be dedicated to a nationwide initiative to reclaim the power to inform. The open invitation is to create and print-off fake headlines for all the major Italian papers, and post them up near news-stands on Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon. A day dedicated to freedom of information, in a country blacked out by the overwhelming power of the media.
