“Cristallo di Luce” by Diego Scroppo illuminates the Citadel of the Youth of Aosta

The Turin artist Diego Scroppo recounts his work ‘Cristallo di Luce’, inaugurated on Thursday 29 September 2022, in Cittadella dei Giovani, as a journey made up of reflections and thoughts on how art can restore energy, figurative and otherwise, to society.

Cristallo di Luce is a traveling installation of public art, capable of generating energy for local communities. A contemporary monument that triggers performances and performative actions capable of narrating possible models of sustainable development, produced by The Sharing.

Inside the work there is an olive tree, a plant of ancient origins with great environmental value, protector of life and biodiversity. Cristallo di Luce is also a deconstruction of the obelisk in a modern key, whose shape recalls the geometric perfection of the peaks of the Alps, beautiful and majestic but at the same time fragile and in need of protection. A combination of art, nature and technology that integrates organically into the surrounding environment with very low environmental impact.

The project won the “ART~WAVES” tender, promoted by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, which supports projects aimed at the artistic and cultural sphere, aimed at the enhancement, production and use of cultural assets and activities in the Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta.

Crystal of Light is present in the Citadel of the Young until May 2023.
